My question is what is the thumb rule to decide the size of beam slab column at the preliminary stage of design like when we receive the architectural drawing we prepare the GAD. So how to we do that? Please tell.

Shipali, The slabs can be sized based on the L/d rules
The beam and column positions have some thumb rules which is explained in the initial modules.Orientation of columns also mentioned there. Please go through these. Please note that some of the scheme aspects can be mastered by doing more projects.
